It is our pleasure to announce that Munich-based curators Jessica Capra (IT) & Mariana Sesma (BR) will be joining FABRIKKEN for a two-week curatorial residency in collaboration with Goethe-Institut Denmark & The Department of Arts and Culture of the City of Munich.

Jessica Capra (Italy) is a curator, artist mentor and cultural manager with more than ten years of experience working across Europe, currently based in Munich (DE). Capra holds a degree in Art History and a Master’s in Art Management, specializing in curatorship and creative cities. She recently completed the Curating with Care course by Sascia Bailer at the University of Applied Arts, Zurich. Through several exhibitions, she has explored themes of belonging, longing, identity, and the role of borders.

Jessica Capra's curatorial practice is deeply focused on exploring social and cultural issues. Previously she has worked with themes including how Western society acquires and consumes knowledge, the role of care within our current society, as well as the pressures of capitalist systems.

Her latest curatorial research focuses on the theme of motherhood and the role of women in contemporary patriarchal society. Throughout her career, Jessica Capra has been committed to fostering meaningful artistic conversations and supporting voices from diverse cultures - to date, this dedication drives every project she undertakes.

Her interest in supporting artists in developing sustainable careers and creating fair, inclusive, and alternative dynamics in the art world led her to establish The Artist and the Others Foundation, where she serves as artistic director.

Mariana Sesma (BR) is an independent curator and cultural manager based in Munich, focusing on themes of belonging, playfulness, care, and decolonial art practices. She is keen on collaborating with other professionals and, over the years, has curated a number of exhibitions, including The Essentials, a photo exhibition presented in Munich’s subway stations, and the solo exhibitions We Were on the Same Branch by Betül Aydin and The Voice of the Daughter by Rusha (Munich). She has also curated the group shows BeLonging at Platform (Munich) and Crossed References: Marginality and Resistance (Brazil). More recently, she curated Pelagial by Nina Radelfahr and Mariella Kerscher.

Sesma holds a degree in Visual Arts and an MBA in Cultural Management. She has worked in various roles at prominent Brazilian art institutions, including the São Paulo Biennial. She also leads workshops for artists on topics such as Artist Statements, Portfolio Reviews, and Art Residencies.

The two-week residency offers Capra and Sesma a studio space at FABRIKKEN, the opportunity to build networks with professional Copenhagen-based artists, to get to know the Danish art scene, and to develop ideas for new curatorial projects. The 2025 residency is the second edition of the program.

The Curator-in-Resicence program is funded by the Department of Arts and Culture of the City of Munich and the Goethe-Institut Denmark, in cooperation with FABRIKKEN for Kunst og Design.
